Zim Integrated Shipping (ZIM) and Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) have come together to cooperate on seven container services.

What This Agreement Entails

The agreement with MSC would be for services connecting India, Asia, Europe, the Mediterranean and Australia, the JOC reports.

Additionally, this agreement includes vessel sharing, slot purchases and slot swap arrangements.

“This important operational collaborations with MSC, a trusted partner and industry leader, marks a mutually beneficial arrangement, delivering cost efficiencies for both carriers, while upholding the highest standards of service and reliability for our customers.”

Eli Glickman, ZIM President & CEO said about the agreement:

He further added

“Capitalizing on this opportunity with MSC will improve efficiencies in our fleet and is consistent with MSC will improve efficiencies in our fleet and is consistent with our focus on taking proactive steps amidst continued near-term headwinds in the container shipping market.”

Looking Ahead

Additionally, ZIM will be expecting new ships in the coming months, and their fleet is expected to grow more than 70 percent, from what their fleet is now.

ZIM also has pulled some ships out of weaker trade lanes as they redeploy some of their newer vessels to absorb new capacity.
